Medical Needling
Skin needling works by encouraging your skin to make more collagen. Multiple superficial puncture wounds releases growth factors that stimulate fibroblasts creating new collagen and elastin. By traumatizing the skin in this way no collateral damage is caused to epidermis and healthy tissue. The new skin is, in turn, more even in skin tone and texture. Its normal for the skin to lose collagen via age or injury. By encouraging the skin to make new tissue, there may be more collagen to help make the skin firmer to. Recovery from treatment is rapid with no residual pain and discomfort most feel like a light sun burn for 24 hours post treatment. Treatment can be preformed on most areas of the body. Skin needling improves skin texture and tone, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, loose/lax skin, stretch marks, body scarring. Depths of needling available from 0.5ml to 2ml, all products used in treatment are sterile zand fit for purpose. Aseptic techniques are used to ensure cross contamination is not possible. Consultation online or in person is advised to discuss treatment procedure and aftercare/down time.

Procedure
During the procedure, I use either a Dermapen (electronic needling device) or Dermaroller to make small pricks in the skin. The pinpricks are so small that you likely wont notice them after the procedure. I move the tool evenly across your skin so that the new skin that rejuvenates will be even, too. Topical anesthetic to reduce the chance of pain can be used this can be purchased from a chemist and applied thirty minutes prior to appointment time. Topical anesthetic can be applied during treatment but please request this at booking so enough time can be booked out for treatment. Antioxidant and active collagen serums are used during treatment. I use a hyaluronic acid mask and LED therapy after treatment to rehydrate the epidermis and speed up the healing process. The recommended treatment course is at least 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Aftercare
Reactions which can be expected after treatment are: skin redness and flushing, tightness, itching, tenderness, swelling and some pin point bleeding.
Effects will usually typically resolve within hours and many people are able to return to their normal activities the same or next day. some people react differently and may experience these reactions for longer. However, these reactions are temporary and typically resolve within 3-4 days as the skin returns to normal.
